The Eagle Rank
This is the last and highest rank achievable in the Boy Scouts of America program. Once all requirements are achieved he is an Eagle Scout for life.
Active Participation
A scout must be in good standing and show active participation for 6 months while in the Life Rank in order to achieve Eagle
Active Leadership
A scout must show 6 months of active leadership in a qualifying leadership position while a Life scout in order to achieve Eagle. Your time need not be continuous or in the same leadership position. See your Scout Handbook for specifics.
Merit badges
Earn a total of 21 merit badges (13 required, 8 elective) which must include the following:
Camping – Citizenship in the Community – Citizenship in the Nation – Citizenship in the
World – Communication – Cooking – Emergency Preparedness OR Lifesaving –
Environmental Science OR Sustainability – Family Life – First Aid – Personal Fitness –
Personal Management – Swimming OR Hiking OR Cycling
This total count includes merit badges earned at earlier ranks. See your Scout Handbook for specifics. Merit badges must be taken from a BSA approved merit badge counselor and are offered by the troop, summer camps or merit badge colleges.
Eagle Scout Service Project
While a Life Scout, plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project.
The Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook includes:
*project proposal – signed before starting the project
*project final plan – completed before starting project
*project final report – signed when project is finished
